Volunteer Workshop Facilitators for Upcoming Online Workshops and Modules
Health Equity Initiative (HEI) is seeking volunteer faciliators to broaden the list of its offering and perspectives for its online workshop series and upcoming online modules Volunteer facilitators join a team of highly dedicated professionals with extensive professional development and training experience in a variety of sectors.
Volunteer facilitators are asked to develop and record a 2 hour online workshops on a topic that is relevant to organizations and agencies in the public health, healthcare, and/or community development fields. All topics need to incorporate information, and practical suggestions on working on creating health equity and reducing health disparities. Online workshop will be posted on HEI's website and will contribute to new upcoming online modules offerings, or will be offered as a one-time online workshop event. Past topics have included “Health Equity and Health Communication: Strategies to Reach the Underserved,” “Strategies for Successful Multi-Sectoral Partnerships," “Implementing a Social Determinants of Health Agenda: New Trends, Strategies and Case Studies,” “Health Communication in the New Media Age: What Has Changed and What Should Not Change,” and several workshops on monitoring and evaluation of public health and/or new-media-based programs with specific emphasis on impact among vulnerable and underserved populations.
Online workshops and modules are specifically designed to meet the needs of staff and board members of US and international organizations from multiple sectors and government agencies who have an interest in or experience on health equity issues.
We are seeking facilitators who are experts in their field and who have experience leading seminars or participating in the development of online-based modules. Volunteer facilitators may suggest their own topics based on their areas of expertise.

Online workshops may be developed, facilitated, and recorded from a remote location.

Pro-bono Bookkeeping Services
We are looking for a volunteer bookkeeper who can provide pro-bono services. Experience with standard bookkeping and accounting practices as well as Quick Book/standard coding practices required. Minimum commitment: 20 hours/quarter. This volunteer position will be supported by HEI's Certified Public Accountant. This is a great opportunity for a retired professional to make a difference as we are seeking to minimize administrative costs. PR/Media Volunteer Specialist
Health Equity Initiative is seeking an advanced level PR/Media Volunteer Specialist to assist with upcoming publicity efforts, promote awareness of health equity, enhance branding, secure donation, as well as support membership recruitment efforts once the organization will be transitioning into a multisectoral association solely dedicated to health equity/health disparities later in 2014. The volunteer should be a seasoned PR professional who has a strong network of local and national media contacts and can pitch stories to both national and local media, and can achieve highest visibility in print, broadcast, TV and online.
We need someone who:
- Has existing local and national media contacts
- Has extensive media pitching skills
- Write clear and compelling pitch letters, publish proactive press releases and by-lined articles
- Identify media trends, news cycles and spin opportunities
- Proven successes in both traditional and interactive PR channels
- Has excellent research, writing, and editing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Can think creatively
- Is self-motivated and can work from home/virtually
- Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy
- A strong-sense of teamwork and ability to execute programs
- Has time available to dedicate to ongoing PR work with our organization
