Professional Development Workshops

One of HEI’s Core Areas of Expertise

HEI’s team has extensive professional development and training experience in a variety of different public health/global health areas.  Our interactive professional development workshops are specifically designed to meet the needs of staff and board members of non-profit health organizations, associations, foundations, and hospitals, as well as other public health professionals from US and international organizations and government agencies. We also welcome other professionals with an interest in public health, and/or health equity. Workshop topics include: health communication, global health, new media,  strategic partnerships, research and evaluation, health literacy, strategic program planning and evaluation, and organizational assessment. On request, professional development workshops can be held at the organization’s location and customized for special needs and audiences.

If you would like to suggest any topic for inclusion in our upcoming training events, please email training@healthequityinitiative.org

Current HEI Scholarships

HEI Scholarship fund covers the fees for our professional development workshops for two attendees per each workshop from organizations with a budget under $1 million. Please submit a resume and a short statement as to why attending the workshop is important to you and your organization to: training@healthequityinitiative.org. Applications are reviewed on a first-come first-served basis with only the first 10 submissions being reviewed. Applicants can receive up to a maximum of 2 scholarships (for 2 workshops) per year. Failure to show up at a workshop for which you’ve received a scholarship will jeopardize your ability to receive any future scholarships.

Continuing Education Credits

HEI’s professional development workshops, mini-courses and other training events offer public health, global health and healthcare professionals and practitioners the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and practical skills as well as to exchange information on a variety of relevant fields and special topics. All events and topics also consider implications and strategies for health equity.

Eligible public health professionals who register for and participate in HEI’s professional development events may earn continuing education (CE) Certified in Public Health (CPH) credits after completing a multiple-choice test.   Health Equity Initiative is a pre-approved provider of CPH CE credits, which are required for maintenance of the CPH certification issued by the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE).   The CPH CE access fee is $25 per each of the 3 calendar periods considered by HEI for its professional development events (Winter/Spring; Summer; and Fall), in addition to a $12.00 CE credit processing fee per each event.  The number of CPH CE credits that could be earned by eligible participants is according to the nature of the event.
