Capacity Building and Training

~Capacity Building~

At HEI, we believe that capacity building may start with a training event…but does not end there!

We work with other nonprofit health organizations, associations, foundations and institutions to assess existing capacities and competencies vis-à-vis their mission. We complement our organizational assessment with our in-depth Health Equity-Related Assessment (HERA) to make sure that existing competencies, capacity, and program strategies are designed to be effectively inclusive of vulnerable and under-served populations. We ask questions…and more questions…and help devise evidence-based solutions. We work within an integrated framework in which different public health competencies and areas intersect with each other.

Special one-week courses, panels, conferences, – and institutional partnerships on specific training events, public health models and topics – are also part of HEI’s training program. Please check our Professional Development Workshop page for our January 2012 – May 2012 training calendar, fees, and scholarships.

Finally, we provide ongoing mentorship, training, strategic counseling, support and potential referrals (for fields outside of our areas of expertise), to help other organizations achieve their mission- and health equity-related goals. Training

HEI’s team has extensive training experience in a variety of different public health/global health areas. Our interactive professional development workshops are specifically designed to meet the needs of staff and board members of non-profit health organizations, associations, foundations, and hospitals, as well as other public health professionals from US and international organizations and government agencies. We also welcome other professionals with an interest in public health, and/or health equity. Workshop topics include: health communication, global health, new media, strategic partnerships, research and evaluation, health literacy, strategic program planning and evaluation, and organizational assessment. On request, professional development workshops can be held at the organization’s location and customized for special needs and audiences.

If you would like to suggest any topic for inclusion in our upcoming training events, please email training@healthequityinitiative.org To inquire about a customized professional development workshop at your organization, please email to counseling@healthequityinitiative.org
