Book Event and Discussion - September 14, 2026 In-Person Event!
On September 14th, Health Equity Initiative hosted a Book Event and Discussion with co-editors of Health Equity: Strategies for Action (Jossey-Bass, a Wiley Brand, 2026) Renata Schiavo and Jennifer Weiss. The book walks you through key principles and practical approaches to advancing health equity and includes contributions from 45+ health equity pioneers. Attendees heard chapter overviews from authors Hetty Cunningham, Azure Thompson, and Gretchen Van Wye, and had the opportunity to network with authors, colleagues and representatives from the publisher.
Health Equity Initiative was pleased to bring together professionals from across the field for an engaging discussion and an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and reflect on how we can continue advancing health equity.

Standing up for Black Maternal Health - Aftershock Movie Clips and Conversation – November 29, 2022 Virtual Event!
On November 29th, Health Equity Initiative and other publicity partners joined Picture Motion for a clips and conversation virtual event with the team behind the film Aftershock on how we can stand up for Black maternal health—from our very own communities all the way to the halls of Congress. The panel featured special guests working to address the maternal health crisis, including Representatives Lauren Underwood and Alma Adams, as well as health equity champion Tonya Lewis Lee and acclaimed filmmaker Paula Eiselt who co-directed Aftershock.
