Lenore Cooney, Board Member
Lenore Cooney has spent more than 35 years in the practice of public relations and public affairs. She was a co-founder of Cooney/Waters Group, communications specialists in the areas of health and science. Since 1992, the NYC-based agency, has served the strategic communications needs of clients in health care, nutrition, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and health advocacy in the U.S. and internationally.
She has directed crisis management programs around issues including animal research, biotechnology and food product safety and U.S. vaccine supply. Her product marketing work has encompassed nutrition policy issues and scientific support for food product healthfulness, cancer therapeutics and vaccines; infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases; immunization; urology; neurology; cardiovascular disease; gastrointestinal disease; and women’s health. Among her specialties is the design of strategy to stimulate consensus and coordinated action on a given issue among multiple sectors, including policy makers, medical opinion leaders, health care providers and consumers, at the national, state or international level. Lenore serves on several nonprofit boards. She serves on the board of directors of Health Equity Initiative since 2016 and was a member of the organization’s advisory council from 2014 to 2016.
