About the 2018 Summit
The 2018 Summit built on the elements that worked successfully in HEI's 2016 Summit and incorporated new themes that will expand the reach of the health equity movement. The Summit successfully convened health care professionals, community leaders, students, government staff, policymakers, community development leaders, urban planners, architects, transportation specialists, educators and public health practitioners, among others. The Summit aimed to inform and engage participants through two distinct pathways: one dedicated to engagement through innovation think tanks and case studies on important determinants of health that emerged from the participants' feedback at the 2016 Summit; and the other dedicated to presentations, training, case studies and consensus building on strategies for multisectoral partnerships via community and public engagement.

Keynote Speaker
Entrepreneur, Producer, Writer, Tonya Lewis Lee has been hard at work for twenty years to deliver quality content and information across many platforms. Through storytelling on-line, in books, in film and television, she has sought to inspire self-esteem, entertainment and positive health outcomes. In particular, her efforts across two US administrations for nearly a decade with the program, A Healthy Baby Begins with You, a national program to address U.S. disparities in infant mortality rates, has delivered valuable health information to millions of women and communities, and has also inspired Tonya to do even more.
